A Remote Control Car for Babies?
How many Dads out there can’t wait to buy their kids remote control cars? For all of you who have thought a 1 year old was too young, then you haven’t seen the Fisher-Price Lil Zoomers Shake and Crawl Racer. This sporty little race car moves forward or in circles, either by rolling the ball on the top of the car with a hand or shaking the checkered flag rattle back and forth. Babies that are about 6 months of age enjoy cause and effect play. This means, when they touch, tap or shake a toy, different features like sounds, lights and movement are activated, encouraging them to want to activate the toy over and over again. What a great way to encourage both large motor and small motor skills, because when the car moves out of a babies reach after they activate it, they are motivated to either crawl, walk or run after it. I did think the motor of this toy was very loud for a baby toy. When the car moves, if it maneuvers into furniture or the wall the tires keep spinning loudly for a few seconds, which could be a little overwhelming for some babies. I wish this toy had some type of technology that would either allow it to shut off or move in a different direction once it comes in contact with another hard surface. This toy is geared for babies ages 6 months and up, and retails at $25.00. At 6 months of age, I would recommend supervising and assisting your baby to help them get the concept of this toy, but I will tell you I have seen plenty of 1 and 2 year olds really have a blast watching this car zoom around the living room, too!
