The New 2018 Toyota Camry

Over the past few years, I’ve had some great fun with Toyota. Before we moved to Texas, we were able to test drive a Toyota Sienna for an entire month, and at the end of our campaign, we used the car to deliver an entire trunk full of toys to a local children’s hospital

When I first saw the 2018 Toyota Camry at the Dallas Auto Show,  we were not able to sit inside. However,  I recently attended an event at Globe Life Park in Arlington, TX where as a guest of Toyota we got to sit inside the new 8th generation Camry, hear about the newest features and then watch the Texas Rangers play those dreaded New York Yankees. First and foremost I’m a Red Sox fan, so I’m a fan of anyone who can beat those Yankees!

The 2018 Toyota Camry is nothing like the Camry my friend’s mom drove in the 90’s, with those super cool automatic seatbelts.

The new Camry XSE is sporty and sexy with the same trusted safety and reliability you can expect from Toyota.

I have an 8-year-old, I’m going to be 40, and since my current car will be paid off soon, I’ve been considering a new vehicle.

Since we average 200,000 miles on a car before we trade one in for another, a lot changes in the 5-7 years I own my cars.  When I bought a new car at 27, I agonized over the decision, priding myself on planning ahead, looking for the perfect car that would be safe in the snow and easily fit a stroller when the time came to bring home a baby.  At 33, we still had the same mindset, safety in bad weather.

At almost 40 I have a totally new outlook. We moved to Texas, so all wheel drive is not something I need, and my baby is now 8.

7 years

I don’t know why but cars make me emotional. So much of my day to day life is spent in one that this may sound crazy but at different stages of my life,

I hopped in the driver seat to explore some of the new features. We have been thinking about a new vehicle, and since I’m going to be 40, there is

3 displays, including a heads up display that shares

In our family, we buy cars we keep, for like 10 years and 250,000 miles. Not only does my son need a safe and reliable ride to after school activities, I drive a lot for work, visiting clients in their home as a pediatric occupational therapist. I can not be stranded on the side of the road, my work requires a reliable vehicle, my clients depend on me, and since I need those clients to make my car payments, we all need each other to live in harmony. In the past I named all my cars, I know we are weirdos, but when you drive that many miles in your car, you spend more time with them then family.

I remember buying a car right after we got married. We had that shocking reality that it should be large enough for a stroller in the trunk, because the odds were pretty good we’d be hoping to install a carseat in it at some point. So we upgraded to a small SUV 5 years before we brought my son home in it for the first time.

Now that my son is almost 8, and I’m close to 40, we are thinking about buying a new car with a totally different mindset and priorities. We also moved across the country and the features we required living in the Northeast are not a priority any longer.

I still need reliability, and a big trunk space for work supplies and a hockey bag. But more than ever I need speed and fuel economy. Merging onto Texas roads from 0 into the speed of traffic driving 70, you need some giddy up.

My friends have all said, at 40 you start to care a little more about yourself in a different way. And I wasn’t expecting it, but this new Camry had me emotional in more ways than one.

The standard safety features are there, along with some new ones. The TSSP safety system can offer

And so while I was having this almost 40 thought about buying something for me.

This happened.

Guys. The next car I buy might be the one my son learns to drive. The could be his car.

Buying a new car for me is an emotional experience. This is why we research long before it’s time to hurry up and get one, because sorting through all these feelings is part of my process.

And while checking out the the Toyota Camry, this happened.
