Doc McStuffins is a very adorable little girl whose stuffed animals come to life with her magic, glittery stethoscope. She fixes broken toys in her backyard clubhouse or “doctor’s office.” Not only does she offer great support to her friends Lambie, Stuffie, Chilly and Hallie, but she diagnoses their problems, helps fix their ailments and their illnesses get recorded in the “Big Book of Boo-Boos.” Aside from some of the same songs that appear in each episode, there are additional songs created for each show with very cute lyrics.
I recently learned this show was created to help children have a more positive outlook with regard to doctor’s appointments and I feel that there are very appropriate messages relayed to kids about eating healthy, washing their hands, etc. Right-on Disney, you nailed it once again.
This year, a new line of toys will be released featuring Doc McStuffins and her gang. She has her own purple doctor’s bag with 8 glittery & sparkly pieces – the bag, play thermometer, syringe, blood pressure cuff with working gauge, otoscope, bandage cuff, sticker sheet, and Doc’s magical stethoscope. The Time for Your Check Up Doc Doll encourages kids to sing along to the entire ‘check-up’ song. Doc has more than 10 phrases and can also bring her friend Lambie to life. Though I am personally a little disappointed that these toys are all girly in nature with all sorts of pink, purple, sparkles and glitter, I’m pretty sure my son wouldn’t care. His favorite character on this show by far is Stuffie the dragon, so at least there is something blue he can identify with.
Even if you don’t have cable television, but possibly have an iPhone/iPod/iPad, Disney Junior has a FREE app where you can watch episodes of various Disney Junior shows like DocMcStuffins, Jake & The Neverland Pirates, Octonauts, Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Jungle Junction, as long as you can stream wifi from somewhere. This app has been priceless for us when traveling in the car during long trips this summer because we can stream from our wireless hotspot. There are also FREE Jake & The Neverland Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse apps as well with games on iTunes.
If you aren’t an apple user, these shows can also be watched online at www.WATCHDisneyJunior.com. Disney Junior is available through Comcast and DirectTV cable networks.
