ToyQueen.com Attended Social Media on the Sand #BeachesMoms

“You don’t have to be the expert at everything you do, you just have to have a willingness and a desire to never give up.” – Adam Stewart, CEO Sandals & Beaches Resorts

I don’t think there is a more fitting quote said by a CEO to over 125 bloggers seated in the same room at a social media conference, but it can strike a chord with any human being who ever had an idea or a thought to make a difference in the world.

In October I attended the Social Media on the Sand Conference hosted by Beaches Turks and Caicos. I know you are wondering, why should I even bother to post this, now. Certainly while there may be a few details that were lost in translation, in terms of the specific meals I ate or fruity beverage I tried,  what I can share that is from the long-term point of view how a vacation like this can have a tremendous impact on your child and your family.

There isn’t a week that goes by that something doesn’t remind Gavin of Beaches Turks and Caicos. He asks frequently about when we will return, and when we do, “could we please sign him up for kids camp all day again?” We go to restaurants and he asks to sit at the bar wondering if they will take his lemon smoothie order.

So, finally, after 60 inches of what is now filthy, dirty snow on the ground in our neighborhood, I needed a reminder that there is color and life somewhere in the world. I created a YouTube video that highlights more about our experience, and even features a cameo video-bomb by a wonderful lady from Louisville, and shares some of the pictures of the day I spent at the Social Media on the Sand Conference.

One thing to keep in mind, while our room rate was subsidized given the conference, much of what you will hear me speak about and see in our pictures is included for everyone who attends the resort. Certainly there were some fantastic sponsors and activities that we were pampered with, but the kids club, snorkeling, food, drinks, Xbox lounge, parades, Zumba, night clubs, karaoke, and BINGO, are always included to any guest visiting the resort who partakes in the Beaches experience. Staff went above and beyond to go out of their way to meet our requests, including driving a cake across the property so we could celebrate Gavin’s birthday as well as delivering an additional bed rail to our room so Gavin could safely sleep on the top bunk bed.

Here’s a video that Beaches Resorts created about the Social Media on the Sand Conference. The Social Media on the Sand Conference brought together over 125 bloggers. Presenters shared their stories, tips and tricks of how they built their own companies, products, brands, and social media followings to become credible experts and online influencers in their fields. Every single person at this conference, whether they were presenters or attendees had their own unique story.

My family and I participated in the Social Media on the Sand conference at Beaches Turks and Caicos. This resort is all-inclusive (food, beverages, water sports, activities). However, while we received a subsidized room rate for the conference, airfare, transfers and all other expenses were at our own cost.
