I’ve blinked and my baby is no longer a baby, but in the same breath I’ve dubbed this moment in time as, “The year of the babies!” My best friend just had twins, and I work in a school system where it seems as if someone announces a pregnancy every week. Though we aren’t planning on another baby, I love that at this phase of our lives we can relive some of those memories as our closest friends and family members start and expand their own families.
I joke that we are finally “emerging from the fog” that surrounded our lives the past 4 years, which is partially why sleep deprivation, costly daycare, diapers and bottles aren’t on my priority list these days. I firmly believe that hindsight is 20/20 and while I wasn’t the most efficient parent early-on, because who can be? These adorable little things surely don’t really come with an instruction manual, no matter how much time you’ve spent with kids prior! Over time as parents we all find our stride and our rhythm, some find it sooner or later, but it happens. So thankfully when we are finally thinking clearly again because we’ve had a good night’s sleep that involves 8 hours and not 8 minutes, we can hopefully be there as a guiding light and ray of support for those friends of ours who smell like baby vomit, and can’t remember what they ate for lunch or when they showered last.
There were dozens of items we bought and used for weeks before Gavin outgrew them and they were cluttering up our closet, being stored for the hypothetical next child. So, what I love about Tiny Love is their commitment to creating multi-use, functional yet playful, baby products and toys.
Many parents know that a playmat is a must-have for their baby registry, but how do you pick the right one or the best one? Though the Developlace is a traditional play mat with activity arches, it easily transforms into a tummy time mat, tunnel, and activity center for babies on the move, which provides a lot of versatility and long-term play value. Aside from the function of the mat, the Developlace includes 11 different activities such as soft ball rattles, soft & crinkly play pal, hanging learning cards, frog rattle, mirror, crinkly leaf, tinny time toy loop, netted pocket, match and learn play cards, and a peek-a-boo window.
Children may enjoy all types of activities depending on their age and abilities such as:
- Lying on their back on the activity mat looking at and reaching for toys from the arches
- Using the mat as a tummy time space, given that the mat has an easy-to-clean surface if baby spits up
- Lying on their side reaching for toys or looking at the mat if it’s elevated on one side
- Sitting propped on their hands, while looking at and reaching out for toys dangling from the arches or the activity wall
- Rolling from one arch to the other look and play with toys placed in different positions on the arches
- Belly crawling or hands and knees crawling through the middle if both activity walls are raised
We’ve reviewed some awesome products from Tiny Love already that have included the Flexi-Play and the Take-Along Bouncer.
We received a Tiny Love Developlace to facilitate this review and giveaway, any opinions are my own.
