New Peg Board For Kids by Patch Products

@Patch Products

Years later, the familiar Lauri pegboard is still available, but it has now morphed into the Tall-Stacker Mighty Monkey Playset.  Using a similar version of the pegs and pegboard, kids can construct a play area where monkeys can swing from palm trees and slide down slides in their cart. When I saw this concept at Toy Fair I was psyched that the familiar play of the pegboard now had additional pretend play value and action.

The set, recommended for kids ages 3 and up, includes 32 Tall-Stacker Pegs, 4 Mighty Monkey Pegs, 2 Monkeys, 3 Palms and Coconuts, 4-Piece Slide, Wheel Cart, Swinging Vine, Tree House, Elevator Basket, Pegboard with 100 Holes, and an Activity Guide.

In general though, I wish the pegboard was stronger. It seems a bit flimsier than my older Lauri pegboard and the tower we built for the slide sometimes keels over. Gavin then morphs into King Kong the gorilla out of frustration and within seconds destroys it, so keep this in mind if you are using it with children on the younger side of the recommended age group.

Despite some frustration, my son has really enjoyed this playset, he especially likes swinging the monkey from the vine and rolling the basket up and down from the tower, but at just under the age of 3, though he is pretty good at stacking blocks and pegs, to include the slide and tower in the playset, I have had to generally build most of it for him, which is really expected for his age.  We generally stick to the same construction and he’s learning over time the process, so in due time, I’m sure he’ll eventually be building it himself.

Here’s a video on the original Lauri Pegboard, it was one of the first we ever did when launching the site.

Patch Products provided this playset free to facilitate my review. I purchased the original Lauri pegboard featured in the video myself. The opinions are my own.
