Summer months are tough. The weather’s nice, it’s filled with cookouts and parties, and we are frequently grabbing dinner as we say in our family, “on-the-road.”
A few weeks ago I took part in a Google Hangout, hosted by McDonald’s of Eastern New England where myself and other New England moms shared some of our healthy tips for nutrition with busy families.
While certainly McDonald’s shared some information on how the brand has changed to include more healthy fruit and vegetable options, the chat was more focused on realistic activities and ideas, that as mom’s we use throughout the course of our daily experiences. Watch the video to find out what new menu item McDonald’s will include as choices for children in their Happy Meals very soon!
As a thank you, McDonald’s provided me with a fun summer tote and has offered another one for readers to win! Enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below!
Disclosure: I participated in a Google chat hosted by Chef Jessica and McDonald’s of Eastern New England on providing wholesome nutrition strategies during the busy summer months. I received the same tote featured for participation, but no additional compensation was received.
Other mom’s featured in the chat were Melanie from Melanie in the Middle and Pam from Mom Does Reviews.

We stay healthier by using portion control plates and drinking more water. I do love my iced tea but i try to brew it instead and not use any sugar. I try to drink lots of water though and eat more fruits and vegetables.
I entered from Toy Queen's Blog.
I love that McDonald's is offering more salad options and more apples. I love apples and their salads but they're not as nutritional as I want. I can't wait for new healthier meals.
it's no secret - we keep fresh fruit and veggies in the fridge, and we keep even more in the freezer so that we never run out! we do prefer to freeze our own fresh fruits and veggies, but will buy already-frozen in a pinch.
Our best kept secret to healthy eating is setting a good example for each other. We are all on the same page and don't tempt each other with unhealthy foods. We don't buy any tempting junk foods either. We try to have at least one veggie and fruit with our meals.
Veggies are a must every day. My son is very picky and avoids junk food.
One of the changes for Happy Meals is that customers will now have a choice between a bag of apples or a strawberry yogurt tube. Milk, water, or juice will be the only choice of drink for a Happy Meal.
and I'm following you on youtube!
