Inventors of GUBS at Gamewright Booth ToyFair 2011
Video Transcription:
Keri: Hi, this is Keri Wilmot from ToyQueen.com. We’re here at the
Gamewright booth for Toy Fair 2011. This year Gamewright has some special
people here. They have some of the inventors of some of their games. This
is Cole and Alex. They’re two brothers who have created Gubs. So they’re
going share with us a little bit about their new game.
Cole: All right. Well, Alex go ahead, walk them through the game.
Alex: So the basic mechanic of the game is you’re trying to get the most
Gubs. You’re constantly drawing through the deck, and you’re
getting a couple different types of cards. You’re either getting
cards that protect your Gubs or affect your enemies Gubs. It’s
kind of this constant tug-of-war throughout the whole game. It’s
a fun, quick, light game where people just kind of laugh the
whole way through. Its kind of comically serious cards change
the outcome as you go along so. You want to say anything?
Cole: Yeah, that’s pretty much it. You never really know when the game’s
going to end, and it’s very accessible. It works really well
with kids and families. There’s a lot of luck, but there’s just
enough strategy to kind of keep it interesting. It’s come from a
family of people working on it together – my folks and this is
my brother, of course. I don’t know. We’ve seen it make a lot of
people really happy.
Keri: Is there anything that gave you this idea? Or anything that sparked
the interest?
Cole: I came up with these little critters when I was very young, and me
and Alex have been drawing them on our homework when we were
little kids. Then it sort of evolved into this card game that
we’ve been playing together for many years. I was 12 and he was
8 when we came up with it, and it just sort of evolved into a
really fun little family game.
Keri: Awesome. Well, thanks so much for being here.
Cole: Thanks.
Alex: Thank you.
Keri: This is Keri Wilmot from ToyQueen.com showing you practical ways to
play every day.
