Disclosure: I was provided with samples of Erba Vita Natural Supplements for children and adults to facilitate this review. Any opinions are my own.
As a mother who works in schools with a medical background, I’m a little more aware of germs, and my plan of attack is to stock up on tissues, hand sanitizer, and allergy medicine. I tend to have a really strong immune system and I don’t panic with a sniffle or cough at the change of season, I just expect it. My husband hates being sick and with the slightest cold, unlike me, he’ll run to the drug store for some form of flu fighting remedy, natural supplements or vitamins.
I grew up in a household where my mother is a nurse, so there has always been a medication or antibiotic to suit your needs. Though my husband’s grandmother was also a nurse, instead of a medication, she always had an old-world remedy that involved garlic. Maybe during our pre-marital counseling someone should have asked us to discuss whether we’d raise our child, not as a certain religion, but how we’d come to an understanding of how we’d choose whether to medicate him or give him natural supplements when he was sick with a cold.
My husband has always asked about a way for us to give Gavin some preventative supplements, but until I was contacted by Erba Vita for a review of there kids line of products, there hasn’t been much I could find in a the local drug store that I felt comfortable giving Gavin. We have given him melatonin, if he accidentally naps to late in the day at daycare so he can fall asleep at a reasonable hour. Even though it’s considered all-natural, I’ve seen some controversy over prolonged use for children, and I didn’t want him to rely on that to fall asleep, so we’ve now reserved it for occasional situations.
Erba Vita originated in Italy and has been providing medicinal herbs, herbal products and dietary supplements to adults. Over the past month, my family has been reviewing several Erba Vita products. My husband has been using the Propolis EVSP throat spray, a vegetarian dietary supplement that promotes oral health of the immune system, throat and mouth using propolfenol, peppermint, thyme and lemon.
Gavin has taken the Quiet Kids supplement, which uses linden, lemon balm, chamomile, passionflower extract, sweet orange extract and english lavender. I poured the amount into a small cup for him to drink, and some of this might be our doing, but he generally only drinks milk and water and takes melatonin in a cherry flavored chewable or in liquid form with orange flavor from a dropper. Like I have to do for most medications, I had to bribe him with a few M&M’s to take it in the cup, so I’d suggest finding a syringe or dark dropper because of its not so appealing brown color.
I myself, have been taking the Happy Mood capsules that are a dietary supplement that uses dry extracts (magnesium, vitamin B, St. John’s Wart, magnolia extract, Griffonia extract, Lemon Balm extract, Linden extract) to promote feelings of well-being and serenity.
Though it’s hard to say for sure that these products have been completely effective in their intended uses, we haven’t had any negative side effects. Many of the Erba Vita products though are recommended to take 1-3 times per day, and we never took them more than once. I would never advocate for anyone to stop taking medication prescribed from a doctor. However, for those of you who are looking for natural supplements to enhance your lifestyle, certainly keep Erba Vita in mind. It is certainly a happy medium for our family, especially where my husband feels so strongly about using natural remedies to prevent illness.
