Chasin’ Cheeky is a ring toss game from Hasbro that’s recommended for preschoolers or children ages 3 and up. Cheeky, the purple monkey with a long tail, zooms all around a flat surface. Children split into teams and take either the yellow or green rings to toss at Cheeky’s tail. Once they successfully place all their rings on the target, they grab the banana out of Cheeky’s mouth. They, along with Cheeky do a victory dance and shake their booty together.

In terms of set-up, Cheeky requires batteries, which a compartment that requires a screwdriver. Once the 2 “C” batteries and his tail is inserted into his body, he’s “ready to roll.” Once he’s turned on, he will move back and forth on the floor. Once he bumps into things he turns around and can move in different directions. Kids will enjoy chasing after Cheeky to toss their rings at him.

We first saw Chasin Cheeky at Toy Fair in New York and another private Hasbro event in New York City a few weeks ago. Both events were loud and in those environments I didn’t notice whether the toy was loud or not. At home though, and it might just be the sample we have, but the motor on the toy happens to be extremely loud and he’s only able to maneuver smooth terrain and not the carpet so well. At times, my son has even said he doesn’t want to play with it, because it was “too loud.” However, get a few kids in the room and with their excitement, it may not be so noticeable. Definitely do not choose this game though for an activity for one child, while another is napping nearby! Β Cheeky’s victory dance is quite unique and adults present will most likely get Β a great chuckle out of it. In general, Chasin’ Cheeky is a simple game for preschoolers that doesn’t require reading or the ability to follow challenging turn-taking instructions, which is a perfect first game for this age group in general.
