I couldn’t believe it, we have never taken Gavin bowling. I figured we’d have at least been invited to a birthday party by now. He’ll be 4 1/2 and for some reason it just hasn’t happened…yet.
Here in Northern Massachusetts for some reason we have candlepin bowling. Those small little bowling balls that fit in the palm of your hand and literally knock down 2 pins at a time. However, in Connecticut where I went to college and at Kings locations here in the Boston area it’s more traditional bowling, where you place your thumb, index and middle finger inside the large bowling ball then let it go, praying you don’t drop that bugger on your foot.
My husband has done some a lot of event photography for charities organizing events at Kings, but having never been before now, I always assumed that it was a 21+ bowling establishment. Definitely not the case. Kings is happily able to accommodate the youngest bowlers until 8 p.m. with glorifying lighted gutter bumpers and even a stand where kids can just push the ball down the ramp and wait to knock down the pins.
Certainly the adult drinks are awesome, I sampled a few mixed drinks and because I was childless was able to have a margarita with my lunch. The food was also delicious and appealing to the kid friendly crowd with pizza, chicken nuggets, sliders, french fries, and fried macaroni and cheese bites.
Here are some of the pictures I took at the event, featuring the atmosphere and the food at Kings Boston Back Bay.
If you can’t get away for a night on the town with your friends and significant other, I’d definitely certainly consider attending anyone of the Kings locations before 8 p.m. as a great family friendly activity in the Boston area.
Disclosure: I attended an event at Kings Bowling Alley Back Bay in Boston. I was hosted and received complimentary food, drinks, and bowling.
I am also part of the Samsung Imagelogger program where I am provided with technology to utilize. Interior photos were taken with the NX30, food photography was taken with the NXMini.
