What Are Fingerlings Toys?
Fingerlings are tiny, baby monkey toys that sit on your finger. Fingerlings toys make noises and move their heads, as they respond to sound, light, touch and movement by tipping them upside down or laying them down.
Well before the holiday season began, Fingerlings toys were projected to be the hottest toy of the year. Kids have been watching Fingerlings on YouTube for months, begging their parents to buy them. People have been private messaging me and emailing me since September, asking where can I buy Fingerlings!
Where Can I Buy Fingerlings?
This is the million dollar question. Where can I buy Fingerlings for $14.99 and not at an unreasonable cost? Any major retail store like Target, Toys “R” Us, Game Stop and Walmart is fair game, if you are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. Going store to store looking on shelves in my opinion, is a waste of time, unless you have very specific information on when to be at the store!
Call stores during the week, or walk in to an area store when it is not as busy. Ask to speak to knowledgeable people, like a manager, or someone who works consistently in the toy area. Find out from the individual store what days of the week they expect to receive any shipments and what times of day they update their systems online.
In a 5 minute conversation with my local Target, I was told to get the best chance of something specific that our store stocks every night, gets new shipments daily, and at 10 p.m their website should be fully updated.
In my shopping travels, I also happened upon an entire shelf of Fingerlings at a Learning Express specialty toy store. So think outside of the big box stores, local toy stores may have some, too.
Be part of private Facebook groups where friends willingly share information. I’ve seen many strangers helping other parents out by offering insider information, posting which stores locally have recently received shipments.
Online Fingerlings can be found on Amazon.com.
Beware of 3rd party re-sellers on websites like Amazon.com and Ebay.com who will over charge you and may not be able to deliver their promises in time for the holiday. Research these people and companies thoroughly. Look to see if they have a history of sales with many positive reviews or if they are selling just one item. Read reviews carefully. I know of people who have been scammed. I myself tried to buy one from Walmart.com a month ago, to pick up in store, it stated the item was in stock and my order was accepted only to be canceled 3 hours later.

What makes Fingerlings so special and WHY does my kid want one so badly?
I see this question almost daily in private Facebook groups and in profile updates. Why does my kid want this monkey toy so badly that it has become an obsession?
My simple answer is this, kids love to collect toys and cards. Collecting and wanting the latest and greatest is not new. I’m 40 and my mother stood in line to buy me a Cabbage Patch Kid 35 years ago, because it was Christmas, I wanted one and so didn’t the entire world.
Fingerlings fit the collectible criteria perfectly. There are 10 different colors to choose from. Special Fingerlings can only be bought at certain stores, too. Check out Gigi the unicorn Fingerling, which is sold exclusively from Toys “R” Us.
Aside from my work in the toy industry, I’m a parent who buys a lot of gifts. For a retail price of $15, in comparison to other interactive pet toys, Fingerlings toys are really affordable. Look at the amount of interactions this toy has? For kids who are willing to spend the time with the toy, exploring all of these features, there is a lot of play value, especially in comparison to other interactive pets on the same shelf space.
