Spot the Dot App Review

Spot the Dot from Ruckus Media is a great app to teach kids not only color recognition, but to rely on their memory, attention and visual skills by moving their eyes up, down, left and right to follow the directions. Children need to learn hand-eye coordination, as well as strengthen their eye muscles and develop some of these foundational skills to help them to learn to read and write from left to write, and this game has a lot of fun activities to work on some of these concepts.

There are 10 different activities, searching while for a different colored dot.

For example, can they spot the dot amongst a significant amount of other colored shapes? Can they touch dots that will flip over to reveal a different color on the opposite side while remembering the color they were looking for? This skill called figure ground, will help with the practical concept of teaching kids to find one item hidden in their messy room or a specific item hidden in a junk drawer.
