Looking For The Best Christmas Lights in DFW? Head to Daystar!

This is our 3rd Christmas living in Texas since we moved to the south from Massachusetts. We are still exploring our surroundings, finding out about new activities, and always on the lookout for the best Christmas lights in DFW, as we create new holiday traditions for our family.

Christmas lights in Boston are nothing like Christmas lights in DFW (the Dallas – Fort Worth area of Texas). The buildings and tree’s in DFW are stunningly covered from top to bottom with perfectly placed lights. While I know many people dream about having a snowy, white Christmas, I’ll happily enjoy an LED wonderland in Dallas over the cold, fluffy stuff from the north any day of the week.

Aside from just being able to enjoy the magic of the holidays through light displays, the real reason for the season is alive and well in North Texas. You won’t hear any generic “Happy Holiday’s” here. Instead, you’ll see stunning nativity scenes celebrating the birth of Jesus, where you’ll meet perfect strangers who will confidently wish you a “Merry Christmas!”

My family was invited to an unbelievable Christmas holiday light display at Daystar. The hour it took to get there in traffic from our home became a far distant memory when my 9-year-old hopped in the car at the end of the night and said, “That was awesome.” It was the perfect place to truly feel the spirit of the holidays.

This FREE event is located at the Daystar television campus in Bedford, Texas. The entire display includes over 1 million LED lights, and it takes 6 months for volunteers to setup all the lights!

There’s so much to do at Daystar! We loved taking a stroll through “Christmas town!”

Christmastown has light tunnels, colorful trees, and fun holiday themed igloo’s, trains, nutcrackers and presents to explore which are the perfect photo opportunity. Can you find Olaf?

We even got to spread some holiday “Joy!”

Afterwards we took a ride around the property to look at lights on “Santa’s sleigh!”

There is a peaceful nativity scene surrounded by beautifully lit trees.

But absolutely do not forget to grab hot chocolate and treats in the Scratch cafe and visit with Santa! Photos with Santa are provided with a donation of any amount, and a downloadable photo is emailed to you the next day.

Grab the family, a camera and your holiday spirit and spend an hour or an evening to visit with Santa and explore the grounds at Daystar. It’s an absolutely magical experience that will be part of your family holiday tradition for years to come.

You can find out times of the events occurring at Daystar and more information here.

We were provided with a VIP experience at Daystar with a photographer to take our family photos and a gift in exchange for this post. Any and all opinions are my own.
