New Case Logic Laptop & Tablet Backpacks

My husband and I carry a lot of technology equipment to and from work daily. On the weekends if we are off to sporting events or family activities, we always carry several cameras. We’ve owned dozens of backpacks and camera bags, and one thing that consistently frustrates me, aside from function is the cost.
Case Logic offered to provide some new laptop backpacks for us to review during our trade show visit to Toy Fair in New York. I let them choose the backpacks for us and gave them a few parameters:
– It couldn’t be black. At airports and trade shows everyone has black bags. Not only am I a woman, but I wanted something with color that could clearly be identified as mine if I was distracted by my son or just in a chaotic, busy situation.
– It needed to be versatile for our technology needs. I carry my laptop to and from work daily, as well as a Samsung camera that has interchangeable lenses. On occasion I also carry a tablet. At trade shows we bring laptops, lenses, batteries, charging devices, a Go-Pro, and iPhones, so I wanted some flexibility.
– I wanted it to be functional, without being enormous. As women our backpacks and purses become black holes. We carry what we need, then our kids and husbands hand over wallets, toy cars, and gaming devices. Any backpack I’ve owned I end up fishing around inside with my hand, unable to see and never finding what I’m actually looking for. The bigger the bag, the more stuff I carry, the heavier they get, the more annoyed I am.

Kudos to Case Logic for meeting all of my expectations and providing 2 bags with versatile functions within very affordable price ranges.
Both backpacks are a great size, especially for day trips, trade shows and to go back and forth to work. Both backpacks have been quite versatile. Although it’s probably not recommended, at one point my husband had 2 fifteen inch laptops and a Samsung camera with a large interchangeable lens in the Ibira.
In the Jaunt I have easily stored a smaller digital camera (Samsung NX30) with an 18-55 mm lens attached, my laptop and additional charging accessories. I only wish there was a little more padding on the back, as well as in the bottom of the bag. I have quickly dropped my laptop inside and there doesn’t seem to be much padding beneath it.
Our favorite features of the bags are actually the outer, vertical zippered pockets. You will certainly have to be mindful of what is stored in that compartment in busy places like train stations and airports, but at trade shows and on family outings I love storing my camera in this compartment. I can leave a lens attached and within seconds have it ready to take pictures without aimlessly digging around in the depths of my bag.
In the yuckier winter months we’ve suffered from here near Boston we’ve worn a lot of boots to work. The outer pocket on the Ibira has easily housed an extra pair of my husband’s shoes when he is going back and forth to work.
